Children and education have always been a priority for Jill. Her introduction to Community House first came through her eight years on the Brattleboro Town School Board (five of those years as chair). She learned more about the excellent work Community House provides when she served on the board of directors for Community House. When the opportunity arose to become more involved with the mission and staff, she jumped at the chance.
Prior to starting at Community House, Jill owned and operated her own business for about 30 years, specializing in international training in the dairy industry. 'I appreciate the chance to utilize my business skills to serve children,' she says. 'I firmly believe that every child deserves a chance to succeed, and everyone who works here has that same determination. I really enjoy working together with Community House staff, supporting them in all they do.'
Jill also typically brings along her two Bernese Mountain Dogs, Aspen and Riley. 'The dogs love coming in and seeing the kids each day. Riley has come every day since she arrived to our house, and she claims Community House as one of her homes."
She and her husband have three children and live in Brattleboro. She enjoys gardening, reading, writing, playing the piano, singing and taking long walks with her dogs.
Helping guide Community House's direction and priorities is our very capable and dedicated board of directors:
Dave began with the board in 2019. He runs his own business, Guilford Sound, a world-class, full-service recording studio located in nearby Guilford, Vermont. In his role as president of the Community House board, he selflessly combines his expertise in business management with a passion for helping children.
Kelly officially started serving on the board in 2019. It's a family committment for Kelly: her parents also lent their guidance to Community House and served as board members in past decades. Kelly brings years of non-profit work and a strong commitment to our mission.
Kim joined the Community House board in early 2021. She honed her board skills through both private school leadership and public school board service.
Leland came onto the board just after Kim, also in January of 2021. Leland has served on countless boards in the southern Vermont area, most of them dedicated to children.
Amy joined the board in January of 2024. She brings a wealth of experience in this field and in non-profit work. She works with higher education just over the border in Massachusetts.
